The Gazette: Rainout means one night to determine Late Model champion in tight race

CEDAR RAPIDS — Mother Nature hasn’t been particularly kind to the Late Model class at Hawkeye Downs Speedway this season.

Friday’s races were canceled due to rain, leaving just one night of competition in the 2026 NASCAR Weekly Racing Series at Hawkeye Downs Speedway.

While titles are still up for grabs in multiple classes on Championship Night (Friday, Aug. 21) the tightest race is in Late Models, with Atkins’ Kacey Korsmo leading Clear Lake’s Kody King by one point.
